London Fashion Week - Things to Do, Places To Go, People To Visit

It's London Fashion Week AW14 Yay! I've actually been more excited for the this year's shows compared to previous years, almost like there's a new change coming and what better to reflect this change than new and existing fashion houses. So if you are out and about in London there's lots and lots to do to fill your visit. You do not have to secure a front row ticket to get involved. But if would still like to buy tickets, you can, for the London fashion weekend shows sponsored by Vodafone. Are you ready? I am. Camera in hand, thralling somerset house taking cool pics of fashion creatives and new fantabolous inspirational trends.

Juergen Teller ‘Bus Stops’ exhibition

Photography exhibition viewed from the top deck of buses
Busy Londoners with no time to visit art galleries will be able to enjoy a photography exhibition from the top decks of London’s buses from tomorrow. The unprecedented ‘bus stop top’ exhibition will display Juergen Teller’s photographs, featuring Vivienne Westwood, Kurt Cobain, Kate Moss and Bjork, on the roofs of London’s bus shelters.

Visit London Old Spitalfields Market

Where: Brushfield Street London, E1 - near the infamous petticoat lane and in close proximity to Liverpool Street Station.

Spitalfields is one my favourite shopping destinations; the people, the layout and unique designs are a must-see when visiting. Full of talented creative Londoners, there's plenty to buy. Make sure you hold enough cash. Also, check out vintage stalls and food units; I love the falafels.

Visit The Fashion and Textile Museum -

I love love the FTM. My first visit was for the 'The Glamour of Bellville Sassoon' exhibition. Loved it so much I had to do 2 tours of the exhibition room. If you are in london for LFW, it's worth checking out the current exhibitions like; 'Artist Textiles - Picasso to Warhol'. Besides exhibitions, there are also workshops to get you immersed in the art of fashion.

So I attended the Pure Exhibition Feb 2014 on the last day of the event. This is my first time attending as I was hoping to understand the ins and out of exhibiting at Trade Fairs. Besides the London Textile Fair, this is actually my first time attending a fashion trade exhibition. I've heard of shows like Moda UK, Bread and Butter in Berlin. When I got to Pure, I wasn't sure what to expect. Program in hand, I entered the Olympia exhibition Hall. Straightforward entry and helpful staff I have to mention. The exhibition was laid out quite well. Felt like a kid in a candy store. There were too much designs to see. Great quality clothing which definitely sets a high standard for new fashion labels.

As you walk down each stand section, you almost think you've seen it all, till a quirky print jumps out at you so I quickly reached for my Nikon (we weren't really allowed to take pictures of designs), but it was all access for the catwalk shows. What can I say? Great music Great designs and the models moved quite well in the clothing. Only regret - wished I'd gotten to the front catwalk position before the professional photographers sealed their place. I couldn't see past their heads and lenses so I had to settle for taking pics on the side of the catwalk. Better luck next time. Before I forget, UKTI was also present at the event and there was an inspirational talk given by Global Fashion Management on how to better manage your fashion business. Here are pictures and videos for the exhibition provided by Enjoy!
